The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner may provide direct care to patients in the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Hospital in collaboration with an Attending Physician.
Other responsibilities include:
Will provide education of staff nurses; will confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, will explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care; ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures; contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services; assist in the annual review of Nurse Practitioner protocols.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of a course for a NP and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner,
Minimum of one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics;
Experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
