The Endoscopy Technician functions as an assistant who works under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.  Job duties center on preparing and caring for the medical instruments and equipment used during endoscopic procedures. The Endoscopy Technician is also responsible for maintaining clean examination areas by setting up rooms, stocking and ordering of equipment and supplies, cleaning instruments and maintaining GI diagnostic equipment including sterilizing equipment between patients and adhering to infection control measures. The Endoscopy Technician assists physicians and nurses during exams or procedures and may also collect stool, urine and other bodily fluid specimens from patients.

Reports to Director of Surgical Services
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: Minimum 1 year prior experience in a acute care or clinic setting strongly preferred.  A minimum of 1,000 hours of on-the-job training in a similar patient care setting required if not licensed/certified.  Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred. Current surgical technologist, central services technician preferred.   Must have experience and training in computer keyboard applications.
License and Certification: EMT license, Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of California or a minimum of 1,000 hours of on the job training in a similar patient care setting.  American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BCLS required. SGNA certification as a certifed GI technologist preferred.
